What are WEEE recycling regulations in the Republic of Ireland?

The Waste Management (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) Regulations came into effect in the Republic of Ireland on 13 August 2005. These are designed to prevent and reduce the amount of waste electrical and electronic equipment going to landfill by promoting its re-use, recycling and disposal in an environmentally responsible manner.

A crossed-out wheelie bin symbol represents electrical and electronic products which should not be disposed of in the normal waste stream, but should be taken to an appropriate facility to enable their recovery and recycling.
