Why is M&S doing a school uniform take-back campaign?

Lots of school uniforms get outgrown or worn out every year, so we’ve come up with a way to give them a sustainable second term. We’re making it easy for you to return unwanted schoolwear without having to bring it into store.

What can I send back?

We will happily take any of these schoolwear items: trousers, shirts, blouses, shorts, skirts, pinafores, blazers, summer dresses, knitwear, polos and basic sports equipment such as PE shorts. Please do not send any ties, socks, underwear or shoes.

Do they have to be M&S items?

No, whatever the condition, whatever the retailer, we’ll take them!

What happens to the schoolwear I return?

We’ll give every garment you return a new (and sustainable) lease of life, by recycling it into components for new products. Nothing will go to landfill.

How long have I got to send the schoolwear back?

We’ll be taking schoolwear back until 15 September 2017, so be sure to post us yours by then.

How should I package the return parcel?

Make sure your parcel will be safe going through the courier system by using a cardboard box, heavy duty bag or post bag (no bin liners or carrier bags, please). Please remember that CollectPlus and parcelforce can only accept parcels under 10kg in weight and with maximum dimensions of 60x50x50cm.

Can I return any schoolwear in an M&S store?

Unfortunately not. This campaign is especially designed for returns from home.
